I would not recommend them for older people. They could be good for younger though.

I love Smartwool for everyday wear in winter. They look nice with my shoes and boots. They keep my feet warm when I have outside recess at my elementary school. They continue to perform well when I'm bringing my animals their evening feed when it's 10 degrees outside! I always get a few pairs for my adult children who use public transportation, and they love them too. I went with a smaller size even though I should be a Medium because that was all that was available, and they still fit fine.
