I use smart wool socks everyday for work and most in the winter time. Have not yet worn out a pair yet. I like the way they hold on your feet and not drooping down.

These socks are perfect underneath my tall riding boots, thin over ankle and calf with just the right amount of light padding under foot for comfort.
However, they state in their description that these are "over the calf" height - the ones I received were definitely knee-highs, but I just fold them over to calf height (they're thin enough to not be bothersome this way).
Smartwool socks are extremely durable (even these ultralight ones that I prefer for summertime).
They are true to size (I'm a 9 1/2, just at the border between M and L, and order up because I don't like binding on my toes).
