Cute socks, but size L hugely oversized

Very cute socks, but there may be something very wrong with the sizing. I probably own 20 pairs of Women's size L Smartwool socks, and these socks are far larger. When I tried them on, the heel turn was over my Achilles tendon. I ordered 3 different colors of this sock (Slate, Canyon, Surf), and all three fit the same. Note that I haven't tried any other sizes, so I can't comment on whether they are also oversized.
