2nds. Their intricate, trellis-inspired knit gave SmartWool's Trellis socks their name, but it's the performance-ready, wicking, no-itch merino wool fibers that make them a favorite in every gal's wardrobe.

These are lovely and very comfortable. I'm giving 2 stars because they're not quite as described. I am only 5' tall but these socks barely reached mid-calf for me -- just at the widest part, so they slide down constantly. I'm okay with having them a little slouchy around my ankle, though. Also, they are very sheer, like textured tights. They are wool, as listed, and look very cute with Mary Janes, but don't count on them for warmth. I liked them enough to keep them but wouldn't order them again.

After discovering SmartWool socks a year or so ago, I've gradually collected them. I wear them all winter for warmth and find them comfortable for walking and hiking during warmer weather. I've never had a misfit or noticed any flaw in a sock described as a "second" by Sierra Trading Company.

Perhaps it was just the pair that I received, but the toe box was way too large. Everything about the sock fit my foot and lower leg perfectly and comfortably but the toe area hung out with a large ridge. I tried to wear it a bit to see if I would adjust, but it created a uncomfortable lump in my shoe, and I couldn't ignore it. I so much wanted to love these socks, but alas, I've sent them back. Hope other pairs of these 2nds don't share the same flaw.
