Reviewed by Jen, New England Mom from Massachusetts on Sunday, March 10, 2013I have had good luck with Smith helmets, and wear one myself, but this one is a no-go. It looked good and seemed very well made when it arrived. My five year old son used it twice but we need to get rid of it, because both times he ended the day with a painful red welt at the back of his neck. A week later, the welt has turned into a scab. The plastic insert that's used for fitting the helmet snugly hangs below the soft padding, and every time my son would look up, the edge of the plastic insert would dig into the back of his neck. I suppose I could try to sew something to cover it, but at this price point, I think I'll try to find a different helmet instead.
