I usually stay away from button downs due to the afore mention, but this one lays flat and I didn't notice any gapping, but I tried it on wearing my minimizer bra. I haven't actually wore it except to try on, but I did like it enough to go through the trouble of exchanging due to a defect from another button hole punched beside the existing one. It's figure flattering due to the hem line. A thin camisole may be required for some, but I don't think one is needed because nothing really shows through if you wear the correct bra. The sleeve length is just like the model...just right

Black might have been a better choice to go with this shirt, because the colors in the shirt are paler brown. But it works. This is very cute on. I wasn't sure about the style with the longer sides, but it works well. There is nothing about this shirt that I don't like.
