Geez, incredibly uncomfortable. They surely killed it with a huge convex foam hump in the footbed inbound of the arch. What were they thinking?
If this hump was not there these would likely be excellent replacement inserts. How sad.
The athletic insole has more cushion for impact, but they are both comfortable.

Hiking and running are forms of the same activity with different cyclic loads. They both are well designed. The choice would be best to chose footwear for the intended use. I hike miles of rocky beach coast in boots then switch to light hikers to trek the trail home before dark. I use each for the intended task.
