very nice knife if you were to use while diving due to the materials and nylon sheath. good grip along with nice balance and weight. I would have bought more than one but I thought I should let others enjoy this knife as well. I may buy another just to have a spare.

Good knife. Sharpest that I have ever owned. I have very large hands and it is a little small. Others have mentioned that the snap did not close around the handle; here is a tip for dealing with it. Put the knife 2/3 of the way into the sheath. Snap the retainer strap around the sheath at the narrower part of the handle. Then push on the butt of the knife while holding the sheath. Doing this a few times will stretch the strap sufficiently.

I'm not sure how I will use this knife, but as a test of its sharpness I shaved my face with it. Worked as well as a razor. Scary sharp, as they say.
Even if you don't need a knife, buy this one. For the price, you are getting a great deal.

The knife is a great product. Well made, comfortable to work with, and a good length. The sheath is a good design, but some one forgot to check for quality. I bought two of these and on both of the sheaths the snap would not reach aroung the knife handle. I considered returning them, but elected just to move the snap myself. Did fine after that. I think that SOG makes a quality product (I have 5 SOG knives), but the sheath is part of the product and should be well made as well. It is just like a quality guitar. I expect a quality case to carry it.

I bought it as a present and decided to get one for myself. I have used it at home to strip a thick finish off a wooden sword for refinishing with oil. The wood is ebony and sanding is not recommend because it irritates the lungs, nose and throat. This is a very sharp knife out of the box. I was able to shave of the finish quickly and cleanly without any nicks on the wood. I tried shaving the hairs on my arm also, very impressive. I guess I have never had a sharp knife before. Camping or hiking this knife will be fun to use. It should handle batoning well, but for survival adventures I would like a hunk of metal I know I could not break. Something like a truck suspension leaf with an edge. The Field Pup fits comfortably in the hand any way you hold it. It is light weight and well balanced with a serrated thumb grip, rubberized krayton handle and lanyard hole. It is hard to describe good things because everything feels right, only when something is not right do you begin to notice things. I noticed this when I got to the sheath. Very nice sheath, it could have been a little smaller and the loops to mount on your belt horizontally are very tight. I would have to wear a thin web belt and put a lot of effort to get it on the belt. The standard vertical attachment could not be easier just slip the belt through. It has a full size pocket with expandable cover for a stone, flashlight, multi-tool or anything else might want to carry. Very cool knife, you will be happy you got one.
