Closeouts. This SOG combo pairs the AUS 8 stainless steel Field Pup knife with a stainless steel Powerlock multi-tool to cover every base. The Field Pup knife's fixed blade has a high gloss satin finish typically found on more expensive knives. Finger grips on handle and serrated thumb notches on back of blade. The non-slip Kraton handle is form-fitted to the full-tang blade and is drilled for attaching a lanyard. Powerlock multi-tool has one-handed opening, and the tools lock in place with the Powerlock design. It features a gear-driven Compound Leverage mechanism for more plier gripping, wire cutting and crimping power than any multi-tool out there.

Knife: Nice blade and plenty sharp. The sheath isn't the prettiest thing, but it's well-built and can also be mounted horizontally on your belt if you like that style of carry or want it under an untucked shirt. Knife is clearly well-made, but keep in mind that it has a recurve in the belly. This makes it bite deeply, which is great for some things, but may force you to change your technique for general slicing of food, packages, etc). Your mileage may vary, and for the price, this is a no-brainer and will last a long time under hard use. Multitool: Big, solidly built multitool. If you don't mind the extra heft, this badboy is pretty great, especially when you consider how much a higher-end MT normally costs in a retail store ($100+). The leather sheath is comes with looks good and has a nice, tight hold.

Practical combo, value-priced. Field pup knife (Taiwan) lacks a cerrated section, is fairly lightweight, nicely balanced. Multi-tool (USA?) operates very smoothly, but is too hefty for backpacking. Jaws seem a bit too needle-nosey given the compound leverage design; a stout lineman plier jaw would be more appropriate. Fold-open "tool covers" on the handles are not attached with fasteners, just "dimple in a hole" fitment; easy to hyper-extend them off inadvertantly. Internal tools (especially blades, scissors and file) are on the thinner side. Nice leather multitool pouch included in addition to nylon sheath/pouch.

I was suprised that the multi-tool came with it's own leather sheath. Knife is very sharp, I have used the multitool already. only thing is that the multitool is heavy.

I haven't had the opportunity to bring this combo out into the woods yet, but I am very impressed with the quality of both products thus far. A few criticisms, I don't like the included blade on the powerlock (not into the 1/2 serrations) and I have mixed feelings on the scissors. That being said, SOG's website has a number of reasonably priced substitutions, which makes me very satisfied. The Field Pup has also impressed me. It is incredibly sharp and comfortable in hand.
