4.0 out of 5 stars. SOG qualityVerified Buyer Reviewed by LA/MB from Los Angeles on Monday, August 11, 2014Both seem solidly built and functional, though to be honest I haven't had to use either one yet.

4.0 out of 5 stars. Nice SizeVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from Seattle on Thursday, June 19, 2014The entrenching tool is very compact. I have not used this but feels solid and locks the shovel head in 180 or 90 degree positions. The machete is a good size, easy to swing unit. The blade is thick and holds shape when cutting instead of bending like some lesser models. The handle shape is easy to grip for swinging the knife edge - not so well when using the back side for sawing.. I hit a couple of rocks while cutting low and the edge held up. A couple of swipes with a sharpener and it was good to go again.

3.0 out of 5 stars. Good all around addition to preparedness gear.Verified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from Petoskey on Sunday, May 4, 2014This set will make a nice addition to my camping/preparedness hardware. Whether in my BOB, Cabin, or RV; it is a decent set of tools that will come in handy. If lost, damaged, borrowed or stolen I'm not hit too hard in the pocket book. While some reviews cite quality issues, I believe they are expecting too much for the price. Overall look, heft and handling appears good.

1.0 out of 5 stars. Do not waste your time, poor quality!Verified Buyer Reviewed by Keith the Adventurer from Annandale, VA on Sunday, December 2, 2012This tool is a piece of junk. When extended into the operating position for use, it feels as if it will come apart and break.
The e-tool would not even rate for using in potting soil so do not even expect to use it in a camping environment. -

5.0 out of 5 stars. Good value, perfectly pleasedVerified Buyer Reviewed by Rich the Bushwacker from Atlanta, GA on Monday, September 17, 2012I used this around my house to trim a lot of nasty brush and branches in areas where I could get to use my power trimmer, and it worked nicely. The trenching tool seems solid; this review is mainly for the machete. SOG stuff is real solid and after seeing some critical reviews I was happy to find it a good deal nicer than your generic machete, IMO. My only complaint is that I wish it were a tad longer. For the money I don't think you'll do better.

3.0 out of 5 stars. Overall, pretty good products.Verified Buyer Reviewed by Outdoor adventurer from Parsons, KS on Wednesday, September 12, 2012Machete is good quality. the entrenching tool is a little flimsy in the shovel area. Maybe good for scraping away sand, not really for digging in.

5.0 out of 5 stars. What do you expect from SOG!Verified Buyer Reviewed by fisholicious from Seattle on Wednesday, July 18, 2012Used the machete to hack my way down to a river last weekend. Oh what I've been missing. And it saves my waders from excessive abuse while fishing remote, brushy areas full of brambles. I'm certain the shovel will likewise preform as described. It's much lighter and more compact than expected. I think misused the shovel whacking the roots with the edge, so as to save the blade on the machete for eye level offenders, but it's none the worse for the abuse.
