SOG

Used this to field dress an elk last fall. Although it was sharp out of the box, I had to stop and resharpen it repeatedly throughout the job. it would be great for small jobs, but didn't make a very good hunting knife.

I used this to field dress and skin an elk this fall and had to stop and sharpen it repeatedly before I even got the hide halfway off. Just didn't keep an edge like my other SOG knives. OK for the price, but not the best blade I've ever owned.

Daily use and I have over thirty years using knives vocationally. This knife is an excellent working tool and outstanding in price. While the blade may be a bit diffucult to open new out of the box, the allen hinge screw is easily loosened to customize opening tension. An adjustable hinge tension screw is a well thought feature that lets the user modify to preference and to compensate for wear. A drop of oil or graphite powder on the frame to blade interface smooths it out even more. This is an effective practice on all folding knives. The blade is not very sharp out of the box, but so what; it sharpens well and holds an edge quite servicably in utility use. The frame has rounded corners so no undue wear on pockets. The clip is low profile and is true spring tensioned hinge, whch holds as good or better than any other I have tried; in addition it too is low profile and smooth so it does not catch on objects and being of the same nylon based composite, does not mar furniture or snag on car seats etc. It is unlined and doesn't need to be.
