I finally purchased a pair of Sorel boots for a great price through a Sierra Trading Post sale. I've been wanting a good pair of cold winter boots for years and have tried on many of the cheaper versions of Sorel and other makes and found them lacking in comfort, quality, and fit. When the Caribou II boots arrived and I tried them on in the house I was immediately disappointed. The plastic ankle piece between the leather layers (helps the ankle area of the boot maintain shape and rigidity) projected inwards around the top edges noticeably on both boots cutting into my ankles even though I had thick winter socks on. That would result in near instant blisters and discomfort. I was doubtful this problem would go away as that plastic piece is very rigid and I returned the boots. This may explain why they were on such a good "closeout" sale. The boots otherwise seemed true to size/fit and like they'd be real decent boots.
