I bought these specifically for a trip to Russia and Finland in March. My feet were always dry and always warm, even up into the arctic circle of Finland. To the point of boiling almost. I recommend these for everything from walking in the slush and snow to ice fishing in Antarctica.

I ordered this boot hoping it would be a fun winter boot- but because I am 5' 10'' and wear a size 10 shoe- these were soooo big they looked ridiculous. They were also really heavy, which wasn't very comfortable. I would say to order a half size to size down depending on your width- I have narrow feet and they were swimming around in these. they are amazing quality but way too much boot for me! If you really want a pair of Sorel boots I highly suggest that you try a pair on at a store and then order online- learned my lesson. They shipped back and I ended up ordering a lighter boot. .

My twin sister owns two pairs of these boots, and I've loved every step in hers...so I decided to buy my own! They are extremely comfortable and versatile...great to play in the snow yet fashionable enough to wear around town.

I bought these for my girlfriend and she has been raving about them. Completely waterproof, very warm, and very comfortable. When we were in aspen she tried on many different sorels and they were twice as much as these. (aspen prices) What do you expect when you go to a place where the wine flows lie beer and and the women flock like the salmon of capistrano? Anyway, she loves them and said similar boots she tried on hurt her heel where the heel and ankle bend. If that makes any sense.

Before these boots I had North Face Nuptse for 3-4 years, very good quality but gradually lost waterproof feature. Couple of weeks ago I decided to invest in a new pair of boots. Compared Sorel, Merrel, North Face, plus others I can't remember. Sorel boots were by far the most heavy-duty, durable, waterproof boots out there. I then compared several Sorel products and concluded Cate the Great offers as much protection as their more pricier options. The design was also the most simple and elegant with gorgeous color combos. I then searched for the best deal online, and Derailed was by far the most affordable - $30 less than a beloved shoe retailer that usually offers great deals. I had never shopped from the website or heard of it, but ordered nonetheless. I got a $10 coupon just for signing up to receive e-mail offers, which given the deals I would have done anyway. Derailed only billed me when actually shipping the product, which was very much appreciated. The product shipped for free and arrived in 3-4 business-days, which was amazing (ordered Sunday night, got it Thursday or earlier; UPS left note on Tuesday). The boots are stunning and did very well during an unexpected snowfall last week. They took a bit of breaking-into, but that was expected. They actually consist of two parts, a leather-rubber upper and an inner layer that fits snugly to the leg/foot like a knee-sock. This is very useful because it can be easily cleaned and/or replaced without damaging the leather upper. The leather and rubber outer parts are seamlessly molded into each-other and it looks like the boot can stand pressure. The outer sole is a bit flat and smooth with only a few ridges, but I didn’t slip on ice or snow. Before ordering I read product reviews with respect to size and fit. Some people said their feet rub against the part where rubber and leather come together. That didn't happen to me. The only objection I can make to this shoe is it fits just a bit snugly around my muscular thighs, so I wish it came in half-sizes as well. I wear 5 and 5.5 for narrower shoes, and the 5 fits perfectly foot-wise. The pewter/kettle color is unique and gorgeous.

Asked on 11/12/2012 12:00:00 AM by Bootless in WI from Unknown
    • Answer Due to the nature of the closeout business, we often receive items in limited quantities. Therefore, popular sizes and colors can sell out quickly. Occasionally we are able to reorder a product, but closeout items are typically unable to be reordered.||http://ww2.sierratradingpost.com/myupdates/myupdatessignup/

Asked on 8/29/2012 12:00:00 AM by Carol from Wyoming
    • Answer I'd say it is def closer to 12" than the knee length..unless you have very short legs. I am 5'6" and the top of the boots is 3" or so below the kneecap.

  • Question “Here's another one that caught my eye. Again, any thoughts on if this is a good choice for Snowshoeing? I'm looking for a feminine sledding, post-skiing/boarding, and snowshoeing boot with a little bit of style. Is there such a dream?”
Asked on 1/18/2012 12:00:00 AM by Margeaux from Seattle, WA
    • Answer I would recommend the first pair you asked about, I think snowshoes straps would really wear down the leather on the boot.
