These boots are lined with the thinnest fleece possible on the sides and the thinnest foam under the foot. It would be warmer to buy a pair of wool socks and wear them with rain boots. These would be heavy but waterproof rainboots.

For a kid that over-heats on warmer winter days these are perfect as they are. Was hoping removable liner would be a tad thicker (or neoprene - that would be awesome) but can't complain too much, we've adjusted. For extra warmth on colder days an extra pair of polare fleece or wool socks does the trick.

My daughter loves them. They are easy for her to take on/off and they keep her feet warm and dry. Love the pull out liners. The color looked brown in the picture but turned out more purplish in color - love it. I'm going to order a pair for my younger daughter too.
Question
“My son is 20 months old and wears size 5 in toddler shoes. I ordered these boots in a size 6 (since he is growing) and they look like size 6 for adults. Can you tell me what size to order for him?”

Answer
The picture shown is as rolled down as it gets. The rolled part is a removable fleece liner.

Question
“Could you explain the sizing better since there is no sizing chart. My niece is 12 years old and wears a size 5 womens. What is this equivalent to?”

Answer
You will want to compare the women's and kid's charts. For footwear questions regarding sizing please refer to our printable links in our sizing chart:|http://www.sierratradingpost.com/lp2/SizeChart.html

Question
“What low temperature rating does this boot have? 0 degrees, -10 below? -20 below?”
Asked on 9/27/2010 12:00:00 AM by Angie from Wisconsin
Answer
These boots do not have a temperature rating as there are various factors that affect that, socks, how the body runs etc. They are great for winter with their liner and spring when you take it out.
