    I hike off trail a lot in winter and I need a good waterproof boot that has excellent traction and is warm. This boot has all that. It is comfortable but the sole is somewhat stiff. I am hoping as the season progresses it will loosen up.

    The back of the boot above the heel is cut low to allow ankle range of motion, which is nice. However, it is cut so low that pants do not cover the top of the boot well there. In order to keep snow out of the boots I find that I have to use gaitors even when walking through just a few inches of new snow.
