Nice fit as they have a drawstring and are adjustable. These seem to be good quality-I think speedo products usually are,and I anticipate no issues. They aren't that wow boardshort look but are that comfortable old friend feel.

These are very well made shorts. They are comfortable and made from quality materials. The stitching appears good, and there is nice detail. But these are NOT board shorts. Here's why: the waist is elastic, and as far as I can tell, the lace closure is mostly for looks. The eyelets are so close together, that the most you could tighten the waist would be 1/2 inch, but really, you can't tighten these because when you pull on the laces, you just stretch the elastic waist. So unless you really fill these things out, you would likely find them at your ankles sometime if you get spanked in the surf, and I bet they would come down if I dove through waves too. Also, board shorts should not have pockets on the front, or if they do, they should also have a pocket on the side or back, so when lying on a surf board, you aren't lying on whatever is in your pockets. I'd like to see the pockets have some type of closure also, preferably buttons. I will keep these around for river/casual shorts, but will keep looking for new ocean swimming/surf trunks. I'm 5'10, 165#, 34" waist, for reference.
