5.0 out of 5 stars. Nice sturdy water shoes

Shoes seem high quality and fit well.
However, these shoes are both clearly marked "SAMPLE - NOT FOR RESALE"
Must have been free samples from the factory.

The Sperry Searacer Plus is a great shoe and does exactly as they say. It does not slip or slide even on wet surfaces. Great shoe for kayaking and paddleboarding. It is also an awesome looking shoe. True to size. I would recommend this shoe for anyone and a must have for people who love water sports!!! Thanks Sierra Trading Post!!!

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. A good first impression

It's February and everything is frozen outside so I can't give more than just a first impression of these shoes. The build quality appears to be excellent and the shoes are super light. The foam insole provides good arch support. I like the grippy soles and the rubber mesh overlay which should really help with abrasion resistance of the upper. I see no way the nylon mesh upper could allow sand to intrude which is a huge plus. On the downside as with my last pair of top-siders I see no heel cutout and will require wearing Lycra socks to avoid the inevitable heel abrasion and subsequent band-aid. The low sides appear to have solved the problem with ankle bone abrasion. I like the unique lace system which allows for fast adjustment. Upon first putting them on it was obvious that the right shoe was slightly smaller than the left but still fit ok. As usual a great price from Sierra is icing on the cake. Come on summertime!

About Sperry

After a slippery boat deck nearly sent him overboard, lifelong sailor and inventor Paul Sperry created the first pair of Sperry Top-Sider boat shoes in 1935. Determined to find a solution for better traction, Paul carved small grooves into the bottom of his rubber-soled shoes, called “siping.” His idea for the prototype was actually modeled after his dog’s paws, which had evolved to navigate slick, wet terrain. Today, Sperry boots and shoes combine siped rubber soles for outstanding traction with advanced technical fabrics to keep out the watery elements. Over the years, Sperry boat shoes have even become the official footwear of the U.S. Sailing Team, the Shimano Fishing Tour and the U.S. Naval Academy.
