This is typical Sperry quality. The contrasting herringbone pattern against the solid remaining upper really make this shoe eye-catching and it will not go unnoticed. It is not waterproof so it is best used for that casual look with jeans or khakis, although the soles should keep you grounded on sli... Read More

    • Just got them. They look great. The canvas along the top might show some dirt but the patterned accent will likely hide some dirt. As far as cleaning, it is made of material and I am sure any canvas shoe shopping cleaner should work. It is a great pair of shoes and, when on sale, I I wouldn't pass it up.

    • They are indeed light colored and by their nature will get dirty. I am sure you can hose them off to help clean them if you really want to keep them clean

    • Thanks for the response Rob, I greatly appreciate it. I'm not concerned with the bottom of the soles, but the sides. Earlier this summer I purchased a pair of canvas Polo boat shoes with a white side sole and they are impossible to keep clean just walking out the door. So much so they look like I've been working in a garage after every wear. Who likes to scrub shoes for a half hour after every wear? I don't expect my shoes to be spotless but those shoes pick up every grass, oil, and dirt stain they come within five feet of contact. I like these shoes a lot, especially with a great discount, I just don't want to deal with a repeated issue all over again.

About Sperry

After a slippery boat deck nearly sent him overboard, lifelong sailor and inventor Paul Sperry created the first pair of Sperry Top-Sider boat shoes in 1935. Determined to find a solution for better traction, Paul carved small grooves into the bottom of his rubber-soled shoes, called “siping.” His idea for the prototype was actually modeled after his dog’s paws, which had evolved to navigate slick, wet terrain. Today, Sperry boots and shoes combine siped rubber soles for outstanding traction with advanced technical fabrics to keep out the watery elements. Over the years, Sperry boat shoes have even become the official footwear of the U.S. Sailing Team, the Shimano Fishing Tour and the U.S. Naval Academy.
