“This was a perfect ski jacket because of the
following :-
- Recco reflector for avalanche rescue.
- lots of pocket.
- Lycra cuff to keep the wind and the element
out.
- Helmet compatible hood.
However, there are some draw back though.
- The hood was not insulated (nothing between the
shell material and the nylon lining) so it was
a bit cold for daily use.
- The back vent was right at the centre just
below the collar which provided ample
ventilation but there was no provision to close
it nor there was any insulation between the
shell and the mesh lining so it was too chill
for sub-zero temperature or low activity use.
I resolved the above draw back by doing the
following :-
- Wear a beanie before warm up.
- Wear an Airvantage vest/jacket (one that you
can blow air in it as insulation) or an
insulator vest/jacket (preferably polyester
filled like X-static, Thinsulate etc) before
warm up.
I would recommend the Spyder Avenger jacket over the Pinnacle jacket for daily winter use due to the following unless you prepared to wear an insulator vest/jacket underneath the Pinnacle jacket:-
- No need for insulator due to better insulation
on the back.
- Easy to put on insulated hood.
The hood on the Pinnacle jacket was helmet
compatible so it need to be adjusted for daily
use which may cause a bit more inconvienence.”
