About Spyderco Salt I Folding Knife - H1 Steel, Serrated Edge
Closeouts. Designed specifically for marine and other high-corrosion environments, Spyderco's Salt I folding knife has an alternating serrated edge made from H1 steel which delivers incredible, truly rustproof performance, even when subjected to extended saltwater submersion.
- H-1 steel blade is completely rustproof and holds it's edge extremely well
- H1 is a PH steel which means it is a precipitation-processed alloy; it is rolled hard without heat-treating and has 0.1% nitrogen which acts like carbon in the steel matrix, but does not react to chlorine, making it rustproof
- All inside/outside steel components (lock bar, pins and clip) have been treated making them impervious to rust and pitting
- Aggressive serrated edge allows you to cut through tough materials
- Spyderco Round Hole diameter is increased to 14mm for easier use with gloved or wet hands
- Boye detent lockback lever design inhibits accidental lock release
- Textured fiberglass and nylon handle with reversible pocket clip
- Lanyard hole

5.0 out of 5 stars. All Time FavoriteReviewed by EE from New England, USA on Sunday, February 1, 2015I have had one of these little knives for about 2 years. It has been clipped to my swim shorts, jeans and wetsuits in all sorts of conditions. I've taken it snorkeling, scuba diving, working in the tropics, vacationing in the rain forest, etc. Not only has it been impervious to rust with no maintenance at all, the serrated edge has held up amazingly, somehow even better than SpyderEdge knives I have owned in more conventional steels. It weighs almost nothing, like 2 ounces, yet it's solid enough for any task I would require of a folding knife. I've even opened coconuts with it. Since it's so light and compact I don't notice it at all clipped to the waistband of my swimsuit. It's great to be able to have a blade handy at all times around the water. When I'm not traveling in the tropics or spending around the water, I leave this knife clipped to the handlebar bag on my bicycle where it serves as a picnic knife and emergency repair tool, etc.
