Spyderco is more than just another knife brand. Spyderco has an image all its own, which conveys individuality, resourcefulness and a "don’t mess with me" attitude. The Spyderco image was cultivated by the first knives the company offered, which showed off the company’s patented SpyderEdge serrated blade that increases a knife’s effective cutting edge length. The classic Spyderco knife is a lockback knife with a trademarked Spyderco Round Hole for one-handed opening and an ultra-smooth opening mechanism. Most Spyderco lockback ... The fit and finish on this knife is beyond fault considering the price (and very good even when compared to much more expensive knives), though the handle scales do have some minor imperfections in the brushed finish and there was a sharp edge in one spot.
The blade finish is perfect, although the factory grind is heavy at the edge... good for strength, but not so good for fine cutting ability. The steel is also excellent, feeling harder than other 8Cr13Mov blades I have encountered, the factory edge was very sharp and it took an even better edge without much effort.
The handle/blade ergonomics are rather odd, but it really works, the way this little knife fits in a medium sized hand when open makes it very useful, allowing more force and a better grip than you would expect from such a slim package. It also works when closed, as the knife is very compact while allowing access to the opening hole in the blade.
My only real complaint is that opening the knife one-handed is very difficult, the shape is awkward when it comes to opening and the back spring is quite strong. The trade-off is that the knife is very secure while open for a non-locking design and there is no chance of it opening accidentally.
In short it's a functional and stylish pocket knife, great for light everyday use and a good value as well.

I like Spyderco knives and like many others have several. This is a slimmer version of the Military. It is long, sharp, and easy to deploy. For EDC I like the size of the Paramilitary better, but this is another great product from Spyderco.
