Steinbock Down Car Coat - Side Zips (For Women)

I really wanted to like this coat - the quality is exceptional and the price is great. But I couldn't get the other comment out of my head about looking like a bus....it really has blimp-like tendancies. Would be a great coat if you were in the forest service or a Green Bay Packer fan - somewhere where you'd be sitting outside and no one would see you about to launch into orbit from being overly puffy. I returned this for their other down coat - which I LOVE even though much more. Suggestion would be to try a size down especially if narrow in the shoulders. I had to turn up the sleeves which never happens on me - and maybe it was too big in the body - which accentuated the blimp qualities.....

I ordered both this coat and the other down Steinbock coat and kept the other as this one was, as others have mentioned, rather less flattering and ill fitting. Looks like great quality and even though I know that down coats are going to be puffy, this one just felt too shapeless for my purposes. The other one is also puffy but had more of the style I was looking for.

Finest construction, lightweight, warm. It's boxy in fit, but great for the coldest days. This is not the old-fashioned boxy down car coat, still not slim-styled. One of the reasons the coat is so warm is that it's cut with enough room so the down has space to loft well. This does not make for a "trim" style coat. But it's wonderful for comfortable warmth.

I'm a petite size 6 but found a size 8 in this coat just right as the sleeves can be folded up to make an attractive cuff. It's not as "stylish" as some of the down coats I saw in Europe this winter but it's really warm, high quality, and a very good buy.

I think this is a beautiful coat, definitely warm enough for the extreme cold we're having right now in upstate NY. If you want a slim-fitting coat that hugs your body, don't buy a down coat! I find the coat attractive and not that bulky; and I'm a petite size 6.

This coat is just what I needed for cold hard winters! I've had so many compliments on this coat, I feel like I got a "steal" for the price.

well-made, warm but cut too wide - might be drafty from the bottom hood buttons, but no hood color unusual and nice for once the sleeves weren't too long side-zips a real plus for heat control and folks who spend a lot of time in cars

I mainly wanted a down jacket of very good quality and warmth to go outside in the winter. I am glad I bought it.

This coat is very warm Yes it is bulky and puffy but if you need to stay warm in extreme conditions, appearance is a secondary consideration. The coat is long and really does the job if you find yourself in a cold place and have to remain stationary like being a spectator at an outdoor sporting event. No, I would not wear this jacket to work or somewhere requiring elegance. I use it for walks when it is cold. For this purpose, it is superb. It is very much a casual coat when you need to keep snug. I love it for the purposes of casual outdoor experiences. It is very light too. The thought of wearing this jacket, helps me get out of bed when it is still dark in the morning as I know I will be cosy and warm when I go for my walk.

I was really disappointed in this coat... Had been watching it for some time. I am tall and lean... I usually order a 12 for shoulders and it's a little big in the body. But when this came, it had narrow shoulders and was huge in the body... I couldn't help thinking that it was built for a pear-shaped person... I had a similar experience with a Barbour coat I had finally tried a few months ago, so maybe this is a European clothing issue... Quality was good, except that the zipper was small and not the greatest... The jacket was definitely NOT a slimming coat. I agree with the earlier reviewer who said you'd look like a bus in it. I believe this would be a disappointment for most people, but perhaps good for just that right body type.
