    No, I would not recommend this to a friend
    I am a huge fan of Steiner products having had the opportunity to use Steiner binoculars while serving in the military. Having said this, I was disappointed in the optical quality of these binoculars given my past experience. For the money I would have expected better from Steiner. I took these binoculars to Africa for a safari and resorted to using a much less expensive pair of binoculars...

    I bought these glasses for hunting and was very disappointed in their field of view and the low-light clarity. I have a much older pair of Zeiss glasses that are much better even after 25 years. I did not think the Steiner 8 x 42 were worth the money and returned them.
