Steiner Predator Pro Binoculars - 12x40

I used these the next weekend at Bosque de Apache and they were excellent! Much better and allowed me to see the many wildlife at this refuge.

Gave these as a Christmas gift to our son. He loves them. Good field of view and the clarity is great! He used them for deer hunting. We know that Steiner products last...my husband has a pair that he has owned for years and they are still in great shape.

Chest harness is fantastic, barely remember you have binoculars on your chest. Steiner quality is top notch. Used these the past two years hunting and they have never let me down in heat, rain and snow.

Typical Steiner quality - in other words, very nice. Only drawback is that the individual focus adjustment is not as quick as a central focus design. I would buy them again.

I read the other reviews on the focus, and I have to say that after spending a great deal of time with these, I still have not been able to find the crystal clear view. Close my right eye, adjust the focus on something 30 yards away, and no matter how careful I am it just will not work. I have contacted steiner. We will see how that goes.

They can be used for lot of differnt activities. But if you looking for a pair of binos to put in you jean pockets then you dont want these. These are a pair you can wear around your neck comfortabaly and walk around and hike at the same without getting in the way. Very nice clarity with the lenses and made well and durable.

Excellent medium of weight and power. First rate - probably their ideal binoculars for someone doing lookout in the parks, or just general use.

I don't own these but I do have the night hunters by steiner. As far as difficult to focus??? Read the instructions...you don't focus on distant objects. It's pretty simple, find an object 25 yards away, cover one lense and turn the eye piece till it is perfectly clear. Then repeat with the other eye....If that is to difficult then maybe you shouldn't be carrying a firearm...by the way the fogging up issue, these are positive charged with C02 and if the did manage to get water in them then I would say a factory defect and with the 30 year warranty I would return them for a new pair. Would hate to see you miss out on an outstanding pair of optics for that.

Not sure yet if the auto-focus is beneficial or not. First you focus on something far away left eye only, then the right eye. Then everything is in focus. Things closer than the focal point is flat and weird. We think these will work because we're so new to birding. Not sure yet.
