I have used this tippet in super cold water and found it to be stronger than any other line I have used for its size. The only problem is finding more of it as it is not widely known or carried by fly shops.

Good quality line. I use this for tying a mouse on my fly line, works very well. Not easily snapped by the larger fish.

This is good tippet. Supple yet strong. I like it enough to use it exclusively. We'll see how it holds up to scrutiny after a full fishing season, but so far I like it.

So far, my sense is that this has a favorable strength to suppleness ratio. Ties a nice knot and seems to be strong.

This tippet is very strong for its size and will make for good stealthy presentations to wary trout. Their 6x tippet is stronger than many manufacturer's 5x. However, it is not as stretchy as other brands. This is fine because it lays out very nicely on the river without being too stiff. Other brands will be more forgiving with sloppy knot tying. I recommend tying a uni-knot to the fly with Stroft. Stroft recommends this in their retailer catalogue. I believe they are making some of the best tippet in the world today. This is what a true dry-fly fisherman will want to fish with because of its invisibility, good layout, good flotation, and incredible strength-to-size ratio.

About Stroft

Stroft fishing line and tippet is celebrated by anglers for its superior quality and exceptional strength. In May of 2012, Fly Fisherman magazine tested 30 different monofilament fishing lines, measuring average breaking strength based on diameter without a knot. After this, the best lines were tested again using 22 different knot variations, and Stroft GTM was the overall breaking strength winner among all the tested brands. Need more proof? Put Stroft tippet and fishing line to the test yourself, and you’ll soon see why it’s considered one of the best.
