The down-to-earth appeal of Sunday Afternoons goes back to its roots in the early '90s, when the small, family-run company set up shop at craft fairs and open-air markets. While selling their dermatologist-approved, sun-blocking apparel, Sunday Afternoons founders kept their ears open to suggestions from their customers—most of whom worked outside in the sun—and applied changes as they saw fit. Today, Sunday Afternoons remains true to its roots, producing UV-blocking apparel with the best interests of the outdoor-minded consumer as their guide.

Now I will be almost as dorky looking as my neighbor, who wears her similar sun hat even in January. Certainly has good coverage. I think that in person, it looks less like a regular baseball-style cap with neck shade than the photo, and more like a floppy sun hat. I couldn't stand the chin strap--made me feel like I was wearing a bike helmet. I have already cut it off. However, the strap was not uncomfortable, so this could be a great hat if you need one for wind. It certainly would stay on.
The price was decent, so I will keep it and use for my original intent--gardening, to shade my ears and back of neck better than the baseball style hats I usually wear. But it is has more brim on the sides than I wanted, and even my hubby said I looked like a dork when I tried it on. He said it was for backyard only wear (i.e., don't let anyone see me wearing it).

I purchased this hat and didn't realize how wonderful it was until I wore it. I have a smaller-sized head (about 21") but I ordered a Large because this hat has a chin strap AND an adjustable strap around the crown, so it can be adjusted for a perfect fit. It has a wide 4" brim that really keeps the sun off my face. It even has a hidden pocket inside the crown of the hat to stash stuff. It's packs really well--you just lay it flat in your duffel. I wouldn't bend the brim because I think it may lose its shape. It's made of quick-dry fabric. I wore it in the rain and it dried very well and fast. AND it's a lovely lilac color.
