this is a sweater, not long underwear, as far as i can tell. it fits perfectly as a sweater, (ie, i wear a medium as usual, and it fits over a light shirt). the wool is dense and smooth and stretchy - really fine and much better quality than i've seen on similar garments for a lot more $. it feels like it will last years, and looks very handsome, a little shiny and crisp with the smooth knit, nice zipper pull. navy is very dark and pretty, almost a black. black is true black. for me, i wouldn't wear it right next to skin, but it is fine around my neck where it touches, not itchy.

Bought this to go into my SAR pack as an essential winter under-layer, but like several items I've bought in the past for this purpose, they have ended up in my daily wardrobe because of their good looks, comfort, and utility. The merino wool is tightly knit and water resistant, smooth and not itchy at all, and the perfect insulating layer for cold weather.

This top fits more loosely than a typical base layer, but is absolutely wonderful. Feels luxuriously soft to the touch when rubbing it between your fingers (though I do find it slightly itchy against bare skin--I'm just not acclimated to 100% wool yet--wore it with a silk under-layer). Keeps me warm, water beads off of it (haven't tested this in a downpour, but keeps one dry in a sprinkle of rain), and looks beautiful as well. Great, high quality construction. I'm very impressed with this product. I've owned it for about two weeks now and have worn it for five of those days during a cold snap (in my defense, I was going camping for two and doing outdoor field work for three) and it's still warm and odor-free. Plan to try it cycling and in warm weather as well. I haven't tried it while working up a sweat yet, but based on my experience thus far I expect it to perform very well.

Bought this as undergarment, but it fits so beautifully and looks so good, I am thinking of getting an additional, larger one to wear on its own and under a jacket.
