I bought several of these packages. The small Swiss Army knife is great; however, the waiter's tool is poorly designed and very poorly manufactured (burrs, etc.). The key design flaw is that the part that rests on the neck of a wine bottle is oversized and shaped in just such a way that it applies too much force to the glass when you lift the cork, causing the glass to break. I have several other brands of similar tools; none of them have this problem. It seems a shame to have to throw even a small steel object away, but this one is dangerous.

The knife is flawless, but the waiter's tool consistently breaks the necks of wine bottles when you (OK, when I) extract the cork. The inner edges on all three that I ordered are rough, with burrs -- very uncharacteristic of Victorinox -- and the claw seems poorly designed when compared with similar tools that do not break or chip bottle necks. Very disappointing, and useless as a gift, except for somebody you hope will drink some broken glass.

Jesus cut through the phony and was a real practical down to earth guy. He also served others which is what a waiter does.

At ~$10 for the Recruit knife *and* the waiter's tool, it can't be beat for value. I think this is the right size for a pocket knife: not so small you need a magnifying glass to see it, not so big you need a holster. I bought two more as gifts. The waiter's tool is good quality, as you'd expect, but be careful not to chip the rims of wine bottles when you remove the cork. (I haven't had this problem with competing tools.)

This combo is of the high quality that I have come to expect from Swiss Army products. This should be very useful in many applications.

The knife is up to Victorinox's usual high standards. I was surprised by how nice the waiters tool is. I'm surprised it doesn't carry the Victorinox logo anywhere as it looks good and is very functional.

I use the knife for backpacking and the bartender's tool for picnic-ing. I have to say that I thought the bartender's tool would be just an after thought. No way! It's just as well-made as the knife and any bartender worth his margarita salt should own one!!!
