Overall came as described with a good set of tools for a beginner kit or one to take on the road. Two minor gripes - there is no instructional manual as stated in the description and the scraper does not have a notch for edges. Other than that it's a solid kit.

Good foundation for at home ski tuning. Just add some diamond stones, gummi stones, scrapers, p-tex and you are ready to tune with the best of them!

I have to agree with the guy that said the vise is to small. I was trained by a swix rep and he DID use the center vise when tuning the base edge. If you use the kind of pressure mentioned by the last guy you'll likely ruin your base. As for waxing, I suppose you could just set the skis on top of the end vise, but not much sense in using the vises at all in that case. Just set the ski on a table. The last guy was also right, some people just don,t get it, to bad its him. Oh and TOKO makes a vise that goes to 110mm which will fit the majority of alpine skis waist size. DUH!

I've read the reviews from people who think the vises are too small for fat skis, but they don't get it. The vises are made to hold a ski upright for edge filing, and the ski lies flat on the rubbery suction cup surfaces of the vises for base filing and waxing. With downward pressure, the skis hold in place quite nicely for base beveling, base repair, and/or waxing. Who makes a vise 130mm wide? Duh.

I had to return it. The vise only opens to 60mm. I couldn't find any skis that would fit it the vise. I think they must be for nordic skis.

Finally decided to start tuning my own skis. The vises are way too small for alpine skis. I have six pairs of skis ranging from 18yr. old Rossi DV6 to brand new Rossi 80Ti and the vises are too narrow for all of them. they only open to 60mm. I wish people would actually use the product BEFORE they review it.

Have been boarding and skiing for years, but have always relied on my local ski shop to tune my equipment. Figured it was time to learn a new skill and take a bit more pride in my hobbies. This kit seems to have everything you need to get started. Iron, vices, wax, file and holder. Kit is meant for alpine skiis, not boards, but will try and make it work. Also will probably be too narrow for fat skiis.
