I bought these mittens to go over my gloves when snowshoeing and just generally being out in the cold weather. I am pleased with how warm they have kept my hands. I wore them over my gloves (more like liners, really) in 20F weather and my hands were very comfortable.

These mittens are rated for zero to -20F but there is no way! They are super thin. I think they might be okay at 30F above zero if you have warm hands. The velcro opening at the top of the hand is weird & awkward and very stiff compared to the rest of the mitten. I am returning them, very disappointing.

The velcro opening and closure system makes them easy to put on and off but it is a rather odd design that leaves a large opening at the base of the thumb. My verdict is that they would not be useful on their own. Rather, I'll stuff them in a pocket and pull them out to wear as an over-mitt (on top of gloves) when the weather gets nasty.

I Ordered the s/m for myself, these mitts are huge..I don't know of any woman that could wear them. Thought I would safe them as a gift for my brother but think they would be too big for him as well, they are going back.

I bought these as compact mittens to wear over my full finger cycling gloves when the temps dip into the 30s. They work well for road cycling and can be taken off once the temps hit 45 or so. The large velcro opening makes them easy to get over a base layer glove. The leather palm has good grip and are very wind proof.
