Much thicker than what I had in the past and seems to clean shoes better. It does say not to expose to a direct sunlight for a long time. So, covered area would probably be the best. I got it for the front entrance. It looks great. I wished it was a little bit bigger.

It would be best to use it in a covered area rather than being directly exposed to rain as it will retain water.
