This rod casts like rods twice the price. Nice easy action and good distance; easy rod for beginners too. I first used this rod in a 5wt in Montana, borrowed from a guide, and was totally sold. I saw the sale at Sierra Trading and bought a 5wt and 7wt. Get them while you can.

This rod is absolutely wonderful. Just returned from the Bahamas bonefishing. Casts wonderful into the wind, landed some nice bones and a large permit with no problem. The 7 wt works really well with 8 wt line. Can't wait to throw some large stuff in Montana and the steelhead run at Lake Superior. The extra tip section is a bonus, and nice durable tube with sock.

This is a solid rod at a great STP price. There are two things I should point out: the action isn't as fast compared with say a Redington CPS and its a bit shy on backbone into the blank. Having said that, its plenty of rod for the price and great for steelhead. My blank has slight color variations in two sections but you aren't buying a Sage or a Winston and you aren't spending $500+. You can't see it unless its pointed out and it certainly doesn't prevent me from catching fish...I can take care of that all by myself. The rod comes with an extra tip which is sweet for those of us with unfriendly car doors.
