Bristles are fairly soft and even with a firm tug, stay intact in the handle. I didn't notice any scent, right out of the tube...have used it once and performed satisfactorily. Taylor of Old Bond Street is a recognized and established company you can place your trust in. I'm sure if there were a problem with the brush, they would be happy to replace.

Fairly stiff brush for badger, loads well, no hair loss so far (about two weeks in just to break it in before traveling). I'm very pleased with the purchase, and since this is for traveling only, I expect a full lifetime of use.

Bristles are less dense and stiff than my main brush at home, but it is compact for travel; whereas my home brush is not. Be sure to allow the brush to dry before placing it in the container, or take it out at destination to dry. All badger brushes need to be dried out.
