I bought a small (for a 40# dog) and a medium (for a 65# dog). They fit fine and the shortness of the webbing between the 2 loops, as mentioned by other reviewers, was not a problem. The construction between the 2 sizes in different. The webbing for the small is narrower and requires me to pull my dog's front leg through the loop. This isn't necessarily a problem, just an additional step. The medium was easier to put on as the loop that the belly strap slides through is big enough to allow it to be opened so the dog doesn't have to step through.

My main con is, that you cannot open the chest loop on both sides, so your dog has to step in the loop or you have to fiddle the completely open chest loop back into the small loop, which is tricky because of the buckle.
I bought an L for a Labrador Retriever (not a slim one) and it is a little tight under his front legs pit, because you cannot extend the whole thing.
All in all I can recommend those kind of harnesses for (big) dogs, because in tricky situations you can easily hold on to the handle, this way the dog is close (no leash wrapping around your legs if he/she doesn't stay put). And even if you have a strong dog, with lifting it up a little, no ground under his front feet, they are easy to control.
