4.0 out of 5 stars. Good actionVerified Buyer Reviewed by kayakayak from Minnesota on Wednesday, March 25, 2015Lights up in a beautiful green with the right angle of light. The 10wt has enough backbone to throw the big flies. You'll have a hard time finding a 10wt rod at this price in general, much less with any quality. Two things would make it 5 stars - an actual case instead of the cloth bag it comes in, and a hook keeper near the handle.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Expected less, got moreReviewed by Tinker from Oregon on Tuesday, March 24, 2015This is a good 7wt rod. It has a responsive moderate-fast action, leaning towards "fast" more than "moderate" and casts easily. The finish is very good and the handle has very little filler.
It's my first experiment into heavier fly rods - I've clung firmly to my 4wt for years - and I didn't want to sink a lot of money into this exploration. For the price, I didn't expect much, but these rods are much better than what I expected.
The "forgiving tip" seems to mean it's designed to be soft and to protects a light tippet from a hard-striking fish - like a steelhead - and the butt has enough power to turn a fish during a hard run. The action is entirely different to that of my fast-action Loomis and St. Croix, but I have to admit that I'm comfortable with how it performs with steelhead and coho.
It'll do. -
