Terramar Lightweight Balaclava - Merino Wool (For Men and Women)

With the caveat that I've only tried it on and not actually used it, I think this will do what I want it to. Covers my lower face better than a scarf does. Takes up so little room that if I want to wear it and my ear-flapped cap under my helmet, both will fit. I was afraid that the eye hole would be too small for my glasses, but it stretches to allow me to wear them. Unfortunately, I can't see, because the balaclava directs my breath directly at my glasses. If I pull it all the way below my nose, I might be able to see through them without fog. Even inside the house, they steamed up as soon as I pulled it on. I like wool. Considering how thin this is, it won't be really warm, but it will cover patches of skin that nothing else does. Those patches will be more protected than they ever have been. And at worst, I can always rob banks or practice for life in a burqua.

Being a huge Merino wool fan I like this item. It packs very small.

Really good for layering under a weatherproof hat. Wear at work under hard hat.

Perfect for the zero and sub zero days with high wind chill values. Face totally covered except the eyes....not thick, breathes well, can layer it with a scarf or gaiter if needed. Thin, light weight, good for travel and putting in your pocket or pack, barely takes any space, good for gaiter only too when you don't want to wear over entire face. You do look a bit like a bank robber but when temps are so cold that you need this, you don't really care what you look like....unless you are maybe a teenager and would rather freeze to death than look un-stylish

What I wanted

Fabric and fit are very nice, snug but not constraining. My goal was to wear the balaclava for cold-weather biking. My glasses fog when I breathe, however, so I will have to come up with a solution, because I like the warmth and fit of this balaclava.

Bicycling in Atlanta can be surprisingly cold in the winter months - this is perfect for my commute. Face hole is a little small, but I suppose I want maximum coverage after all.

This keeps my head warm under a ski helmet, but by itself it is not windproof.
