Haven't tried these on the trail yet, or been out in the rain with the - Have worn them around town and they felt comfortable right out of the box. Went back to get a second pair but my size was already sold out.

My husband and a friend both have a pair of Teva's so I ordered a pair. I needed a wider size as my foot would roll on side hills. I returned the Teva pair and have ordered a pair of Solomon low tops for day hiking. They just don't wear out. I will wear my old pair for trail crew camp shoes.

Predictably, they were too constricting in the toe but felt loose on the heel so a size up didn't seem like it would help. For a different shaped foot, though, they would probably be fine. The foot bed was very comfortable and they are pretty cute. I would recommend considering a half-size up from your normal shoe size.

My husband recently purchased a pair of this type of shoe through Sierra and is very happy with them. I read the reviews and the price was right. However, nothing in any of the reveiws mentioned how narrow the shoe was. I do not need a wide width in shoes. I put the shoes on and could not believe how tight they felt. I tried walking around the house hoping they would loosen up with motion. I thought wrong. Thses shoes are not available in a wide width. So, on top of the disappointment of not having new trail shoes, I had to pay to send them back.

I bought them to do some hiking in Japan this Fall and I think these will fit the bill. Not heavy. Being waterproof will be an added bonus there and here as I walk the beaches.

Reviewed by C from New Jersey on Thursday, May 02, 2013The heel/ankle area of the shoe is way too loose. I haven't had a chance to try to fix it with some kind of padding, but I'm hopeful I can get a better fit. Otherwise it's a great shoe for hiking.
