I work and play outdoors in coastal south Florida (tromping through abrasive limestone rock, sand and grit, saltwater, rain puddles, mud flats, intense UV exposure, and all that good stuff). Weighing more than 220 pounds, I am pretty hard on my feet (even as big as they are size 14 to 15). Even worse, having high arches means my forefeet and heels are carrying all that weight. Anyway, my shoes take a beating, too. I asked Teva to recommend something to replace their awesome (original) Terra-Fi sandals, because the Terra-Fi II and Terra-Fi III did NOT measure up, at least not regarding arch support. Teva recommended the Toachi (1st) or the Katavi regular, not leather, (second choice) for arch support. I tried the Toachi. Though Teva Toachi's images show adjustable straps with Velcro, hidden beneath the forefoot strap I found a second non-adjustable strap beneath the adjustable strap. I guess this means you can tighten, but not loosen beyond this point. Unfortunately, that point was painfully snug across my forefoot (both of them). The materials seemed first rate, and the foot-bed felt luxurious (very comfy) on top, but firm beneath, compared to some others I own (my Chaco's are too hard). I do have a wide forefoot, so if you do not, this sandal is definitely worth a try. I'll get back to you on how the Katavi sandals work out.
