I work outside, doing a lot of hiking. And when I bought these boots, I thought they were magical: they were incredibly comfortable, had great support, were waterproof and didn't give me any blisters. I assumed that because they had Vibram soles, that they could go through harsh terrain and not be worse for the wear.

HOWEVER, I took them on one backpacking trip: a five mile hike(plus another four miles round-trip to get to another location), off trail, in sagebrush steppe, and after two days, I noticed that the indestructible Vibram soles were not so indestructible. Much of the gripping had started tearing off and the soles were already cracking in some places. It was a HUGE bummer, as these boots are incredibly comfortable and easy to hike in.

I'd say these are great boots for day hikes and on trail hiking, but the moment you get off trail, expect some issues.

About The North Face

Believe it or not, The North Face story didn’t begin on a high-altitude ascent. It actually began in San Francisco at less than 200 feet above sea level. However, what started as a neighborhood mountaineering shop has since evolved into an industry-leading, award-winning outdoor equipment and apparel brand. Since its inception more than 40 years ago, The North Face has grown to include clothing and gear designed for nearly every type of adventure, from alpine skiing to backpacking to trail running. Today, The North Face jackets and pants are chosen by world-class athletes, and The North Face rugged boots help carry explorers through the toughest terrain, from the icy slopes of Everest to Utah’s Green River basin.
