They are warm, waterproof, and comfortable right out of the box. The sole is textured for wearing on snowy or wet streets. I have short wide feet with high arches and usually wear 7 or 7 1/2 but am keeping the size 8 to wear with heavy wool socks and in case I want to add a more supportive footbed. I have wide calves and the boots fit easily over tights or pants, laces in the back make it easy to adjust the fit.

Answer The boot is made with water resistant leather, but is not seam sealed to make it completely waterproof. The boots can get wet but would leak if you were to walk in standing water.
