5.0 out of 5 stars. Great light weight waterproof shell
Reviewed by Crebbinator from Whidbey Island, WA on Wednesday, August 29, 2012
OK, so size matters.

I'm 5'10" 185# and I got a large. It fits fine over the several layers I have for alpine climbing and hiking. It is also fine as a single shell. Arm length is perfect for me. My shirt size sleeve length is 33"

If you want a trim fit, and don't plan on wearing it over layers, then a person my size may want a medium. (Unless you have long arms)

I have not tested the performance yet, but you can research that online and see this coat does what it is designed to do.

I bought this for my husband who does search and rescue. It had exactly every feature he wanted and fits perfect, looks fabulous and is all around very cool.

So far it appears excellent. Time will tell if it really keeps the water out. I like the feel of it and the venting. I ride a lot of motorcycle miles in all sorts of weather. I bought this as an all purpose rain top for use while riding and out and about. A fellow I know highly recommended it.
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. I enjoy it although could use some adjustments...

For a shell it's decent. I feel it could breath better. The way it opens up to breath is either too little or too big. I love the front zipper system on it. The fitting could be better. The pockets could be different, they are too big and gaping. I like the jacket so my criticism is in hopes to revise it. I like the idea of a lightweight shell, you don't find this often. I don't want a heavy weight rain jacket. Yet I don't want a thin jacket that won't keep warmth in.
  • 3.0 out of 5 stars. #rd time, etc., etc...

I recv'd this jacket last week as a replacement for a defefective Columbia Lezoosh jacket( zipper teeth pulled out at the neck). I wore THF Pelosi not 24 hours(to and from work in Denver, hardly taxing on EXTREME gear)and the the hem drawstring clasp broke.

I am going to try this jacket again.

STP has been absolutely excellent re: customer service, I think the aforementioned defects were flukes. So far, I've got a week's worth of wearing the the Pelosi, and it nice.
    * Remember, it's a technical shell, and should be used as such - layering is essential...

    I'll post an update...
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Replacing my Old "Mountain Lyte"
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Danoindenver from Denver, CO on Wednesday, January 30, 2013
As in my headline my Mountain Lyte needs replacement. I can see where North Face saved money in this design. Stamped logo, stamped "Summet Series, mimal labeling etc. They replaced the Gortes with I rhink their own propritary system. I have yet to wear it as I have other alternatives for the cold weather as it is still winter. I am generally pleased But time will tell.

About The North Face

Believe it or not, The North Face story didn’t begin on a high-altitude ascent. It actually began in San Francisco at less than 200 feet above sea level. However, what started as a neighborhood mountaineering shop has since evolved into an industry-leading, award-winning outdoor equipment and apparel brand. Since its inception more than 40 years ago, The North Face has grown to include clothing and gear designed for nearly every type of adventure, from alpine skiing to backpacking to trail running. Today, The North Face jackets and pants are chosen by world-class athletes, and The North Face rugged boots help carry explorers through the toughest terrain, from the icy slopes of Everest to Utah’s Green River basin.
