The North Face Surge Daypack

I was searching for a bag I could use around campus that would offer excellent quality, reasonable price, medium carrying capacity and a protective laptop pocket. When I stumbled upon the Surge, I knew my search was over. This bag has exceeded all my needs. I use it daily and it has yet to show any signs of fatigue. I highly recommend this product with one caveat, if you have a large water bottle it will not fit in the side pockets, however, a 20oz sports drink fits just fine.

Great pack, especially for long trecks thru airports. Rain covers make it diffucult to zip closed.

This backpack is perfect for school/work professional. I used to have the yamvapai and this is a huge upgrade. Plenty of compartments and pockets. I like the zippers in my bag to hold memory cards and usb sticks. The bottom pocket for holding cables are perfect for my camera battery charger. Everything about this is cool. I even found a whistle on left should strap chest connector. Also between the main compartment and the laptop sleeve there are two cylinder pads that give extra padding for carrying a notebook instead of just a divider. I consider this a huge plus. All around i could not be happier about this pack. I use this mostly for school/work, but this would be very capable as a travler, or weekend camper.

Just what I wanted for airline travel to carry my laptop and camera gear. Most camera packs are filled with cumbersome dividers and padding. I put my camera bodies and lenses in neoprene wraps and drop them into the Surge. Fits in overhead compartment easily. Even with the weight of my equipment this pack doesn't feel too heavy.

Great-zippers not perfect though

I live on an island and commute into the city, doing much of my work on a laptop in a coffee shop. This backpack is ideally suited for carrying a laptop, but not too bulky. I take it everywhere with me, even without the laptop, since it is so versatile. It has a very stable structure to it, so you don't even feel like you have it on. It is light, but you can carry a ton of stuff, if you need to. I have the green (Anemone) color and I still love the color.
