    No, I would not recommend this to a friend
    Looks like a nice outer shell for a wet day. Good fit and stylish. However, it lacks insulation and is not water proof. Given the lack of these characteristics, the price is about twice what other comparable jackets sell for. I may pay this for Gore-Tex of some light-weight Hi-Tech fleece but not for a water-RESISTANT shell.

    I had to order up a size (or two) to ensure the sleeves were long enough. I am very tall and wear a size 1 in pants, and had to order a medium (which is a tad short lengthwise, perfect in the sleeves, and looser than I'd like around my torso). I bought this for crew practice. I have been told the lighter the better. I think this will work fine.

    I love The North Face, and this is probably good for layering, but on it's own, it's pretty light. Since there's no lining, I just think that The North Face has priced jackets like this way too high.
