These curtains are heavy and sturdy. They do a good job of insulating the room. Watch out though for shrinkage when washed. I own many pairs and wash them immediately upon receiving them. Some panels shrink up to 3 inches more than others; however, STP is very good about exchanging them.

We have hung our draperies, and tye suit us very well. They are better made and have linings and know they will provide more insulation than our previous draperies. We bought a steamer and that has helped us to remove the wrinkles so rhey look very good . We think they were very reasonable in price and will recommend Sierra to friends. Thank yiou.

These curtains smell like bad tuna, a lot of bad tuna! The minute the package was zipped open the room filled with the smell. I tried airing them, no luck. They are currently on the third wash cycle, this time with two capfuls of those Downey wash beads. My husband says "give up, pitch them"! I would no recommend these to my worst enemy.

I bought 4 pairs of these insulated curtains. I ordered the 84" length so I could cut off the tab tops and make a casing top with a ruffle. It worked out perfectly! I made a 3" casing for the rods and a 2 " ruffle for above that. They look terrific and fall about a foot below the window sills in bedrooms. To finish them off I will make tiebacks with the extra fabric and some accent fabric. It would have cost at least 3 times this if I bought decorator fabric and insulated lining. One of the curtains had to be returned due to spots on the fronts, but customer service was very nice and I got my replacement pair quickly. I ironed the wrinkles from packaging using a damp press cloth and cotton setting on the cotton face of the curtains. They came out. There are no holes in the lining in any of the 4 pairs- as was mentioned in a post. They are very nice all around! They make the rooms warm and look cosy.

I am not a fan of the heavy duty cotton fabric - it looks too industrial or utilitarian for me, maybe because the sage green color doesn't pop enough. It does the job intended, but I'm returning for something more aesthetically pleasing. Also, just a note, I bought the 80" wide curtains for my sliding doors, which are 70" wide. I needed twice as wide to get the nice wavy curtain look - these ended up being pulled straight across the glass door, which added to the poor aesthetics.

Answered on 2/29/2012 12:00:00 AM by Product Spec. Marv from Sierra Trading Post
    • Answer I don't know specific weight, but they are heavy. I would classify them more as drapes than curtains. I like the thickness. I bought the natural color and you still get light through, which is nice. The navy however are quite dark and would be great in a light sleeper's room.
