Perfect size for my daily bike commute to work. It easily holds a change of clothes, lunch, cable lock, tools, and spare tubes. With this bag, it is much easier to access and organize my load than with a top loading day pack. And I like being able to arrive at work, hop off the bike, pull my bik... Read More

Wonderfully made and real quality product. Bought as a gift for my daughter going into High School. Larger than I expected and sturdy with some really nifty features that don't show up well in the photos or specs.

Nice Quality, but need to get used to the width. As it is wider than normal messenger bags. In general, I like the color and design.

This bag is a wonderful size — big enough for everything from change of work clothes to a book to a computer to a meal. It's very sturdy, seems waterproof in and out. The reflective strip is a big plus for urban cycling at night. The strap is very comfortable and adjustable. The Felcro under the flap makes for quick loading and unloading.

    excellent choice!

It is a true classic design. well made with quality materials nylon sturdy and thick. Messenger bag is pronient with the convinient to quick access the main compartment but the singe shoulder strap is not stable enough to keep the bag steady while you are on the move. To solve this, The additional strap design to the messenger side wall outside connected to the main strap is indeed to stablize the bag well onto your body around. Many pockets designed is inside the bag, possessing quick access to your valueble, such as mobile, watch and wallet etc. The laptop or iPad compartment sits well just next to the back of main compartment to your body.

    • Answer No it does not have a briefcase like handle

    • Answer No, the bag does not have the hand carry option. It only has the shoulder strap.
Answered on 3/7/2015 6:35:07 PM by Shirley from Silverthorne, CO
    • Answer HI, if you're referring to a handle on the top, the bag I received doesn't have one, it has only the shoulder strap. I'm not sure a handle on the top would be very helpful anyway. This is a real, over the shoulder messenger bag. Its really great quality.

    • Answer I just looked on their website and it does not appear to be the 2014 design. I say that because my outside flap does not have Timbuk2 spelled out like the picture on their website for the 2014 model. My guess is - this is the 2013 model ?

    • Answer Its the 2013 version! Both have pros and cons but I'm loving this bag version indefinitely
Answered on 9/28/2014 7:15:45 AM by Jansen from Moncton
    • Answer The material and design seems quite waterproof ..... the flap has good coverage. Get a size that won't be overfilled - reducing the flap coverage. There are many zippered pockets for convenient storage but they are not exposed directly to the weather. I think this will hold up well to a downpour.
Answered on 9/1/2014 11:10:06 AM by California Hiker from San Francisco
    • Answer Well, the materials themselves are waterproof. Since this is a messenger bag though, you will always have the area between the flap and the bag to worry about.
In general, if you don't over stuff the bag and keep it closed up nicely it should be fine in the rain. However, depending on how long your sons commute is and how hard it rains, you may want to look into something that has a zippered main compartment.
One other note from my college experience, many people put plastic bags over their messengers during severe downpours, as they would allow water to get in otherwise. Timbuk2 now makes rain covers for messenger bags specifically for these purposes, might be a worthwhile investment in your situation.

    • Answer While I did purchase this in part because I wanted to be protected from the rain & snow during bike commutes or at bus stops, let it be known that I live in Colorado, which has much less precipitation than Denmark. I would be worried that in heavy downpours, water could leak in the top corners. Though the liner seems highly water proof, if you need extreme waterproofing - I would go with one of those backpacks where the top rolls down. Otherwise, this pack seems to offer very good protection.

    • Answer The bag is pretty waterproof. The only way water may come in is by the side flaps if they're not tucked in correctly. I believe the 2014 version of the bag has a bit more amped-up waterproofing. I'm just not sure w/biking and the bag moving around if water may sneak in the sides. Hope this helps!

  • Question “Will a 17" laptop fit inside this bag?”
Asked on 8/27/2014 12:49:29 AM by learning all the time from Delaware
    • Answer Definitely in the main compartment but not in the laptop sleeve. That could alternatively be used for books at what not in your case. I can fit my 15.6" laptop in the laptop sleeve with just about another half inch of room. I hope this was helpful!
Answered on 8/27/2014 5:01:56 AM by Jansen from New Brunswick, Canada
    • Answer I just measured my bag and it looks like a 17 inch laptop will just fit. However, the bag is soft so the sides will give and expand a bit beyond the footprint. Just to be clear: this is a measurement of the width of the bag - there is plenty of depth to accommodate a laptop. Laptops are measured by width and not diagonally right?
Answered on 8/27/2014 8:33:29 AM by California Hiker from San Francisco
    • Answer Yes it will. But just barely, so it will be nice and snug.

      I'm still loving my bag.
Answered on 8/27/2014 9:24:49 AM by Mr Motorcycle from Boise
    • Answer Probably not. This bag does not have a padded laptop compartment. The main compartment has a divider but it designed for documents. Our Lenovo Y50 widescreen 15.6" laptop (15.5"W x 10.5"L x 1"T) can barely squeeze in with effort. It will fit in the main compartment but you would have to use a protective neoprene sleeve to protect it from bouncing around or bouncing against other stuff you are carrying. The large size would be a better fit. Even better would be one of the models with a dedicated laptop compartment. The Timbuk2 website has a sizing tool where you enter your laptop model and it will tell you if it will fit in a particular product.

    • Answer It would be pretty tight. The top part definitely stretches to 17", but the bottom tapers a bit and is smaller than 17". I would recommend sizing up.
