Really like this bag. I'm a train commuter, and I bike to train station, so this messenger bag works perfectly, and is truly reflective in headlights. Sturdy, waterproof material, good construction. Dislike that all pockets are internal; flap must be lifted to access internals. Otherwise, quite pleased with it.

A very well made bag, sturdy and rugged. I use it daily for my rather long walk/train/walk commute and it doubles for personal and business use. I like the toned down, conservative black with the hidden but highly reflective panel for late night walks home. I use it to carry a variety of personal items for the commute, such as magazines, mp3 players, sunglass case and a small camera (Canon G9). I am a semi-pro photograpaher and always carry a camera. The various organizing pockets provide a useful mix of sizes and types. I also use the bag to carry various bits of paperwork, etc., much like a briefcase. The bag looks like it could easily accomodate a small to medium laptop, but it offers no padding what-so-ever for protection. Timbuk2 offers other bags built for that purpose, tho. A padded sleeve would serve nicely as an alternative. The bag is roomy enough to hold a light jacket and an umbrella, as well. The bottom straps are perfect for holding a wet umbrella without soaking the inner bag. The bag material is waterprrof, but as other have noted, the bag ends are not covered by the top flap and rain can get in thru these small openings. I have not found this to be a problem, tho, as I usually use an umbrella anyway. The bag interior has remained dry in the few rainstorms I've walked thru so far. Only nits: I'm 6'3" and a longer strap would be nice. I improved this a bit by re-feeding the main shoulder strap straight into the big adjustable clip, which gave me a couple of extra inches. Also, I tossed the included padded strap cover - the wide strap is very comfortable by itself and I find the pad completely unnecessary. A small outside pocket to hold my train ticket would be handy. All-in-all, a very, very good bag for the price. I travel very light and like this one so much I'm shopping for an extra small size for casual day trips to the city.

Unbelievably heavy. I don't get this whacko quick release for the shoulder strap, does anyone really ever have to adjust the strap that much/fast/often? Worst of all: forget 'waterproof' - the flap doesn't completely cover the top opening, so there are holes at each end, at that top, and rain will pour right down into the bag.

I had a large Timbuk2 Messinger Bag that was just too large for every day use. I really like the quality and look of this bag. I use it for work. There is room for a netbook, lunch, and some ancilary items. while the large was just too large this one is almost too small. It works for me but not by much. I think for my purposes a medium would be the best fit. That being said, I like this bag and will continue to use it.

I like this bag much more than the metro mini that timbuk2 has been selling for a while. This bag is designed the same as their larger messenger bags. The smaller strap, clips used to attach the strap to the bag, and tote handle on the mini remind me much more of a purse than a true messenger bag. The only complaint that I have with this bag is the small clip used to attach the stabilizing strap to the bag (this is not the main shoulder strap) -- it hasn't been a problem so far, it just seems like the least overbuilt part of the bag. PS - if you need a bag to carry your laptop, buy a bag with a built-in sleeve or compartment.

I have been using this bag for the past couple weeks and love it. I bought it for the sole purpose of carrying a netbook to and from work on my motorcycle. I don't yet have the netbook but was impressed that my older 15" laptop actually fit in the main compartment, although it did crowd the pockets somewhat. Without the laptop it will hold a pair of shoes and more. Mine is black but you can still see the reflections and it is nice to have a bag that rests on the back seat of the motorcycle instead of on my back like a backpack. Wearing a backpack was very uncomfortable in the heat, especially considering the motorcycle gear. I did get the exterior a little wet in the rain and it was no problem, but the main compartment is not at all sealed from the elements (large holes on either side of the main flap ) so you will want to wrap your electronics that are not in the waterproof pockets. I'm expecting to toss the netbook in a big zip-loc bag. I predict the Timbuk2 will function well even in a monsoon so long as you take this limitation into consideration.

center reflective panel so cool i really wanted to keep this, however I am 5'3 and even the small messenger just doesn't fall well on my frame. great straps, seems very well made, albeit I would expect a top handle and water bottle pockets or a small outside pocket for what they charge at full price. i tried the all black which is conservative by day but maybe looks a bit too plain except when lit at night. recommended if you can use a small messenger bag. my 13'' macbook fit but would need full sleeve to be really protected.

Bag made in Vietnam. Red ribbon w/clip is sewn into pocket to make finding keys easier. In this bag it was sewn into the very small outer pocket maybe by mistake. If you have only one or two keys, no problem. On Timbuk2 bags made in the USA the ribbon is sewn into an inside pocket.
