This seems like a well-made, comfortable, well-designed, good-looking bag at a good Sierra Trading Post price. I like that it self-expands -- when it is empty it lies fairly flat but when you start stuffing things in, it expands to hold at lot (this is the "medium") work papers, kids' clothes and snack and jackets. I give it 4.5 stars.
My criticisms are minor. First, I like a handle on top of the bag in addition to the shoulder strap. I also wish the main compartment zippered shut to avoid thing falling out or rain coming in, although I have not had either of those things happen. This bag takes a belt-and-suspenders approach to the flap, which closes with both velcro and straps. This works well, but if you want to just rely on the velcro, you are left with the straps flapping around, otherwise you constantly need to buckle and unbuckle in addition to sealing and unsealing the velcro. All minor.

Great sophisticated look. I like the bright Timbuk2 bags as well but this has a sleeker, more modern look. The brown/grey color is beautiful. Nice and roomy inside with lots of pockets so small things don't get lost in the abyss. Great price too!

Finally a quality bookbag. Lightweight easy to use. Doesn't make me look like some trendy fool with an Iphone.
Needs to have some plastice inserts to keep it from folding up on itself when empty.
Extraordinarily loud velcro makes peolpe turn around to see the old man tightening his walking shoes, only to discover me trying to discreetly open my bag. Sorry family and friends. Next tome I will open it before I enter the funeral home.

The Timbuk2 Mink messenger bag is okay, but nothing spectacular. I was expecting more. With all that is being offered in today's lineup of bags, this is just another (unique) color/fabric in Timbuk2's lineup. I'm returning it and opting for one of Timbuk2's newer models with more features.

Timbuk2 consistently makes good bags. This is my second from Sierra Trading Post, which has good prices and good service. This bag is dressier than most Timbuk2 bags and looks exactly as pictured. It also came with a waist strap for biking and such, to keep the bag from shifting.
