This is a great backpack for cycling, which is what I wanted it for. When it arrived, I was surprised at how large it was, being that it's a size small, and was afraid that it might be too big for me (I'm a petite female 5'4" 120-25 lbs)...When I first tried it on (empty), from behind it looked like I was wearing a sandwich board! The length was fine as I have a longish torso but it's about the same width as my shoulders and extends about 4 inches on either side of my waist. When I put stuff in it, however, and tried it on again, the shape filled out nicely and was actually perfect--the weight was really well-distributed, the straps lay flat, and it no longer looked like I was wearing a sandwich board although it is still a large bag for me. It's very deep, so I can fit a lot of stuff in it--street shoes, gym clothes, books, lunch, whatever. It's a lot more roomy than the size small Timbuk2 cargo messenger tote I have, and more comfortable too. Perfectly balanced for riding. Doesn't have the great inside pockets that the messenger bag does, though (it does have one good outside pocket, plus a loop to hook a light onto which is useful). This is definitely a more utilitarian bag, but great for carrying lots of gear comfortably while biking. It's stylish but rather plain-looking (I got the gray) so I put some cool black reflective stickers on it to jazz it up a little and add greater visibility at night. All in all, an excellent buy, well worth the STP price, and an awesome backpack for cyclists, even small ones like me. The guys from my local bike shop drooled over it, and I think I'll be the envy of all the messengers in my town with this bag on my back...
