I purchased this jacket for hiking and jogging in the windy city. It is definitely water and windproof. The sizing can be a little tricky since it is unisex. I ordered one size up and it fits me fine. It's very light and easy to pack.

I ordered this online for a backpacking trip next month, so I haven't actually used it yet. However, I am very pleased with the quality and fit. For the low price, i was apprehensive about the quality, but I am extremely pleased and confident this will keep me dry in the rain. I wear a women's size 16 and I ordered the men's large. It fits perfectly without being too tight or baggy --just right. I couldn't be more pleased!

  • Question “What is it lined with?”
Asked on 2/15/2016 3:33:19 PM by 4pawz1tail from North Carolina
    • Answer Sorry, it's nicely rolled into it's pouch and don't want to deal with taking it apart. But I'm pretty sure it's not "lined". I believe the inside is the same Trespass proprietary fabric as the outside; waterproof, windproof and breathable. If you're looking for warmth, this isn't it (but of course can layer for some degree of warmth.)
Answered on 2/15/2016 3:41:58 PM by Carole from NC
    • Answer This jacket is a shell, it is unlined.
Answered on 2/15/2016 3:47:19 PM by Larry C from Brooklyn NY
    • Answer It is unlined. It does have a mesh in the hood and small section on inside back of jacket, mines lime green.

    • Answer It's not lined with anything except for the hood has a mesh lining. it's light weight not for cold weather.

    • Answer This jacket is a minimal shell and has no lining. It is designed to pack into a small bag so it can be carried in backpack or trip bag in case ran threatens. It is not designed for warmth but only to be a safety shell in wet weather.

    • Answer It is only the jacket itself, the inside is just a bit slicker. The material is somewhat thick but I would definitely where it as part of a a layer in cooler weather. If it is just raining and warm, then it breathes well as long as it has some give. I highly recommend getting the jacket in a next size up for layering purposes.

    • Answer this jacket is not lined. it is a waterproof jacket but not insulated in any way.
Answered on 2/16/2016 9:39:59 AM by Steve from san francisco
    • Answer Parts of it are lined with polyester mesh fabric. The rest doesn't have an obvious lining, but I think that is because it's bonded fabric so the lining is bonded to the outside shell. The lining inside is probably what they are calling Tres-Tex® waterproof breathable membrane. The jacket overall feels very thin and light and comfortable and flexible yet it is completely waterproof and breathable. I got it for my husband and he says it is perfect to stuff into its little stuff sack and keep in his backpack for unexpected rain. It is not insulated but you can easily put it on over any other jacket or sweater to protect against wind or water.

  • Question “How do you clean this jacket? Do you apply anything to keep it's waterproof rating? ”
Asked on 1/3/2016 5:35:28 AM by Hiker Mom from Maryland
    • Answer That's a really technical question that's best addressed by an expert. Maybe a call to the manufacturer would provide you with the specifics you seek as there are no experiments that I performed to determine the information let alone provide an accurate measure of waterproofness on a comparative basis.

Call them and ask to talk to somebody in the lab.

    • Answer This jacket has a rubber type coating. Wiping it down seems the best way to clean it. Until that coating cracks, it will remain waterproof.

Answered on 1/3/2016 7:55:25 PM by Girl that golfs from Michigan
    • Answer i wash all my waterproof garments in cold water. i then hang-dry them, air only. as for applying anything, you could probably wash it using "Tech Wash" by Nikwax to help preserve the waterproofness buy honestly i haven't washed mine yet. and i probably won't unless it gets muddy or something. this jacket is at the lower end of the waterproofness ratings and a price that reflects that. it does stop rain but i don't think i'd want to stand out in a storm for an hour. this isn't a $300 rain jacket that you need to pamper. it's good for sticking in the car trunk in case of unexpected rain.
Answered on 1/3/2016 11:11:12 PM by Steve from san francisco
    • Answer The jacket is still fairly new, based on what I see from the material. I will likely just wash it with a wet rag or sponge. The test will likely be this spring or summer before I can truly try it on the hikes I intended. The labels do state it can be machine washed delicate in cold water and to hang dry only. If it gets really muddy or smelly, I will likely follow those instructions.
Answered on 1/4/2016 5:43:09 PM by Hopeless Hiker from San Diego
    • Answer You can wash it in washing machine. Not sure if you need anything to keep it's waterproof rating. I just washed my jacket yesterday in washing machine in cold water and it was just fine.

    • Answer Don't have the dimensions, but it's very compact. Of course the real trick is getting It back into the stuff sack once you get it out.
Answered on 12/28/2015 8:57:49 PM by Brodda from Napa Valley
    • Answer You can probably squeeze it down (and maybe more-- it's very soft) to about 7"long x 3"high-- that's for a large jacket.
Answered on 12/28/2015 9:08:24 PM by Carole from cary, nc
    • Answer The stuff sack with the jacket is small - probably about 9x5x5 and if packed tightly with other things can squish down even more.
Answered on 12/28/2015 9:19:41 PM by OliverG from SF Bay Area
    • Answer it's probably around 6" long with around 3" or so diameter - I'm going from memory. I was able to stuff it into the little bag with some effort. It was pretty tight though.
Answered on 12/28/2015 10:02:39 PM by jrh from NC
    • Answer When you fold it up it compresses differently depending on how you do it. If you try three times the size of the bundle is somewhat different each time. So, in order to not mislead you it is strongly recommended that you contact the manufacturer for the parameters that you seek.

      Sorry.

    • Answer Reflective qualities of this jacket are pretty minumal. I bought it to carry with me should a downpour show up. If it is already raining, I have another jacket. The Qikpac is light, a small package, and does have decwent ventialtion for the price. I pack it into my waste belt for running or light backpack for biking. I use flashing lights for reflective protection. Thanks, Bill the Runner.

Answered on 12/1/2015 4:52:34 PM by Brodda from Napa Valley
    • Answer Not sure. It is possible that the logos are reflective. They are located on: the upper left side of chest, left side on upper sleeve, left shoulder blade and lower right front side. Just tested with a flashlight in hallway with lights off and did not really jump out. Hope that helps.

    • Answer I have the black jacket with green accents. There are no reflective qualities.
Answered on 12/2/2015 6:56:40 AM by In the Woods from Pennsylvania
    • Answer I don't know what reflective qualities are. My guess would be whether the jacket reflects or absorbs warmth from the sun. I have only worn mine on actual or anticipated rain days when temperature was not high. I think that if it was warm enough for the jacket to generate heat it would be warm enough to take it off. It might be useful if using as a windbreaker to prevent body core temperature loss. It is rainproof my primary purpose in purchasing. Mine was on sale and a great value for the price.

    • Answer I'm a 5'2" female with, shall we say, ample hips. I ordered the large and it fits fine. Goes around my hips and zips up. Plenty of space in the shoulder area. If you like a snug fit, a large might work for you. If you will wear it over a sweater or other layers, or just like a looser fit, XL would probably work better. These guys are good about exchanges, so take your best guess and go for it. I'm looking forward to the predicted monsoons this year to give it a try.

I read reviews and like the price, the look and thought this would be perfect for my daughter who was going to live on a research station in the Amazon Basin in Ecuador with other bio conservationists.

She was excited as the living would be quite rustic but shhe was doing the work she wanted. I felt terrible when she told me, after returning home six months later that the jacket easily soaked through. Initially it was repellent, but could not stand up to real rainforest conditions at all. I wish I'd known this beforehand...would've spent more so she could have been comfortable.

I tested it out afterwards, wore it out in a driving NYC rain and it did ineed soak right through
