It's small enough not to be excluded by certain states, and it's large enough to pack a wallop several times over, abstemiously used. Instant attitude adjustment. Some of these potentially dangerous animals are on the endangered species list. It wouldn't do to kill them. On the other hand, one s...

The main purpose of this product is to reduce the likelihood of human/bear physical contact. I can say that since this product was delivered (promptly) to my door in Ohio I have not even seen a bear. Actually there was one on TV but he left as soon as his commercial was over.
The canister fits comfortably in my hand, the instructions are thorough and well written, and the included hip holster is stylish and functional and goes well with any color or style of clothing.
I cannot address its actual function at this time without needing to get a replacement. While the product was very reasonably priced, I would rather not buy two. I will have this product with me later this summer while backpacking in Yellowstone, and I do not expect to write a poor review. Either I will not have needed to use it, or I will have used it (hopefully not) and as the slowest member of my group ....... I still won't write a poor review.

I have heard only good reports of Bear Spray. Only makes sense. If it didn't work, the owner would be in the Bear's stomach and unable to tell you of all the negative aspects.
I look for the EXP Date. Spray is good until the end of the year, four years from the year of manufacture. This can was filled in 2015 and is good until Dec. 31, 2019. I called/Live Chat before ordering to ensure it's freshness.
The holster is a "MUST". If I ever use this, and it works, I will send in a full report. If it doesn't work...............well, you know!

It would be very stupid to go into bear country without this and sierra offers it cheaper then any store I've ever found (even with shipping and without coupons, but let's face it there are always coupons). Plan ahead, buy this product, be protected.
Yes. About as new as it can reasonably be. Expiration date on the can is 2019. I spoke with UDAP before ordering Bear Spray. They told me their Bear Spray expiration date is December 31, four years after the year of manufacture. This all tells me it was manufactured in 2015. Good luck.

They usually last 5 years and have an expiration date stamped on them. Ihave fly fished Alaska,Canada and Montana the last 25 years, and the peace of mind it gives me is worth having it in my vest.

Thanks for answering but I'm actually asking about the maximum disbursement duration in seconds for the 7.9 oz size not the shelf live.

Sierra Trading Post does a great job purchasing bear spray and rotating stock. UDAP Products will have a 3 year shelf life. For Example: If the expiration date is 2017, it is good until the end of that year.

Understandably! I imagine if it can deter much bigger animals like bears, it should work against Cats. That being said, Cougars are completely different creators. I'll leave your question open for discussion. Thanks for asking and have a great day.

There are testimonies of this product on the UDAP website where people have used it against two-legged attackers, mountain lions, bears, coyotes, dogs, etc. The effect is the same on all creatures.
